Introducing the New JCB VM58D and JCB VM78D Single Drum Soil Compactors

As the appointed JCB dealer for the South West of England and South Wales, Holt JCB Ltd is excited to announce the arrival of two innovative single drum soil compactors: the JCB VM58D and JCB VM78D. These compact machines are designed to deliver exceptional performance in the 4-8 tonne class, and they promise to revolutionise your compaction projects.

Key Features and Benefits

Both models are equipped with EU Stage V diesel engines, ensuring low emissions while maximising efficiency and compaction power. We are proud to outline what you can expect from these new compactors:

  • Superior Compaction Force: With centrifugal forces ranging from 81 kN to 138 kN, these compactors achieve outstanding compaction results with fewer passes.
  • Common Components: The JCB VM58D and JCB VM78D share a significant number of components with larger compactor models, ensuring ease of maintenance and reduced downtime.
  • Versatile Drum Options: Initially available with smooth drums, both models will soon offer padfoot drums for varied applications.
  • Powerful Engine: A robust 55 kW high-torque engine with dual traction modes enhances performance, allowing for easy navigation on challenging terrain.
  • Comfortable Operator Environment: Choose between a ROPS/FOPS canopy or an air-conditioned cabin for a comfortable working experience, complete with modern amenities like LED lights and a radio.

Enhanced Performance and Stability

The JCB VM58D and JCB VM78D are designed for durability and stability, making them ideal for demanding applications. With operating weights of 5.4 tonnes and 7.1 tonnes, these machines are equipped to tackle steep gradients of up to 60%. The absence of a rear axle allows for a lower engine position, improving the centre of gravity and providing enhanced stability on uneven surfaces.

JCB VM58D Specifications:

  •  Front Section Weight: 2,700 kg
  •  Compaction Frequency: 31 Hz
  •  Amplitude: 1.7 mm
  •  Centrifugal Force: 81 kN

JCB VM78D Specifications:

  • Front Section Weight: 4,050 kg
  • Compaction Frequencies: 29 Hz and 36 Hz
  • Amplitudes: 1.8 mm and 0.8 mm
  • Centrifugal Forces: 138 kN and 84 kN
