Used Equipment Preparation & Presentation Operative

A Used Equipment Preparation & Presentation Operative is responsible for ensuring that all used machines leaving Holt JCB Avonmouth are prepared and presented to the high standards expected by both Holt JCB and our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Used Machine Preparation & Presentation

Take responsibility for the preparation and presentation of used machines prior to customer collection or delivery.

This will include:

• Thoroughly washing and cleaning machines externally.
• Cleaning wheels, tracks, undercarriages, steps and other areas where dirt and debris can accumulate.
• Fully valeting machine cabs and interiors
• Ensuring machines are spotlessly clean and professionally presented.
• Removing unnecessary labels, markings or previous customer identification where required.
• Ensuring all required Holt JCB and supplied-by stickers are correctly fitted and professionally presented.
• Ensuring operator manuals, documentation and other required paperwork are present and correct.
• Checking that attachments and other items being supplied with the machine are present.
• Carrying out final presentation checks before machines are released for delivery or collection.

Machine Inspection & Defect Reporting

As part of the preparation process, thoroughly inspect each machine and identify any obvious defects, damage or areas requiring attention.

This should include checking for:

• Physical damage
• Fluid leaks
• Damaged panels, glass, lights or mirrors.
• Tyre or track condition.
• Missing components.
• Damaged or excessively worn cab interiors.
• Warning lights or obvious machine faults.
• Missing documentation or accessories.
• Any other concern that could affect the presentation or customer acceptance of the machine.

The role is not responsible for making decisions regarding mechanical repairs but is responsible for identifying and reporting anything that does not meet the expected standard.

Final Machine Quality Check

Before any used machine leaves Avonmouth, ensure that the required preparation has been completed.

The final check should confirm:

CLEAN – PRESENTED – CHECKED – DOCUMENTED – READY FOR THE CUSTOMER

No machine should be considered complete until the individual is satisfied that it meets Holt JCB's expected presentation standard.

Parts Department Support

When required, assist the Parts Department with general warehouse and logistics activities, including:

• Safely loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
• Receiving incoming parts deliveries.
• Moving and storing parts safely.
• Picking and packing parts orders.
• Preparing parts for customer collection or courier dispatch.
• Ensuring parts are packaged securely and appropriately.
• Assisting with larger or heavier items where mechanical handling equipment is required.
• Maintaining clean and organised loading, dispatch and storage areas.
• Supporting the Parts team during busy periods.

Housekeeping & Site Standards

Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment within the used equipment preparation and Parts areas.

This includes:

• Keeping machine preparation areas clean and organised.
• Correctly storing cleaning equipment and materials.
• Keeping loading and unloading areas clear.
• Ensuring waste is disposed of appropriately.
• Reporting any Health & Safety concerns immediately.
• Taking pride in the overall appearance of the Avonmouth site.
